Hi
I do not know if this will be of interest to anyone, but I have just got a
copy of the Wickenby Register Newsletter at Wickenby Airport. Lancaster
bombers were based there during WW2.
The front page article was about a crew whose plane crashed in Marsal
France, all the crew died. Apparently there is a photo of the crew takes
pride of place in the Town Hall, and they are buried in the local church
yard.
Their names are:
BINDER, Hender Frederick W/O 33 years Toronto
EDGEWORTH, Robert Seargeant 18 years Liverpool
GOODKEY, Leonard P/O 23 years Ontario
HODGSON, Arthur Sergeant 35 years Bradford
HUTCHINSON, Jack F/O 23 years South Australia
MACEY, Kenneth F/S 22 years Southampton
YOUNG, Peter F/O 20 years Woodford Green
and there is one member not on the photo
BOWDITCH, Bryan Sergeant 22 years Bognor Regis.
The crash was on the night of February 24 1944, and it was the Lancaster
LL797 UM-B2.
