It looks like there were 2 different McDonald families in Bangor and in Combermere, Radcliffe.
ELihu Joseph McDonald was discussed on the message board a few years ago. He moved to Mason Co Mi in 1872. See http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.canada.ontario...
He can be found in the 1871 census in Brudenell & LYndoch Twps, Renfrew Co. There was no Sarah in his family
The parents of Sarah Kelly (b Cumberland Twp) were Donald McDonald and Ann McLeod as shown in the 1872 marriage registration. This McDonald family came from Russell County to Renfrew county. They are in Cumberland Twp in the 1861 census, in Radcliffe and Raglan in 1871 and 1881. The 1871 gives the surname as MCDONELL but it is the same family.
They had about 11children:
Sandy (poss Alexander), Ronald, Margery, John, Margaret, Sarah, Peter, Ann, Jane, Daniel/Donald , James/Angus
I can't track where Donald and Mary Ann went to after 1881 but I did find some of their children.
Ronald m Mary Ann Umphrey. They were living beside his parents in the 1881 census Moved to Long Rapids, Alpena County Michigan about 1883. His death registration in MI in 1933 names his mother as Anna McLeod.
Jane married Fred Guttke / Goodkey, son of Martin and Hannah in Combermere in 1884 Combermere was given as Jane's place of birth in the registration. The couple moved to Cardiff Twp. They are there 1891 census. Then to Calgary East district at Beddington about 1901 after the 1901 census. Moved from there about 1909. Don' t know where they went, probably into Calgary city.

Peter McDonald married Minnie Wilcox in Cramahe Northumberland in 1880. They had a son born in 1883 in Pickering and Peter died sometime before 1892 when Minnie remarried in 1892 in Toronto.
